Every Monday we celebrate the runners who have joined Team Special Children’s Charities for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
This incredible team is using their miles to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Chicago. We are so grateful for their dedication and generosity!
This week, we’re featuring Team SCC runner and Associate Board member Jack Moran. Jack told us what led him to get involved with SCC and join our team for this year’s Marathon.
Growing up with an aunt with special needs, my family has been involved in the community as long as I can remember. From working with my high school special education program’s gym class, to volunteering at athletic events, I have appreciated the impact of programs like Special Children’s Charities on the inclusion and empowerment for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Last April, I joined the Special Children’s Charities Associate Board. As a part of this group, I have loved the opportunity to contribute to fundraising and volunteer efforts at various events throughout the year, including planning our Spike Beach Volleyball Tournament in the late summer.
I participated in the Chicago Triathlon last fall, but this will be my first marathon as I look to push myself to accomplish new goals this year. I am excited to be running with Team SCC and supporting such an amazing cause. The members of this community provide great inspiration in dreaming big and overcoming obstacles.
Thank you so much to Jack for being a part of our team! Support his effort by making a donation to his campaign today!
