Your support creates a more inclusive Chicago

Access to recreation, arts, cultural experiences, and therapeutic programming should not depend on income or ability.

Yet for many individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, it does.

Your support removes financial barriers and ensures these opportunities remain accessible to those who need them most.

Investing in Our Community

Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities experience significantly higher rates of poverty and social isolation. In Chicago, nearly 70% of participants served through SCC-supported programs live below the poverty line. Limited income, transportation barriers, and underfunded public systems often restrict access to arts, recreation, and therapeutic programming. These experiences build confidence, communication skills, physical health, independence, and connection.
