Every Monday we celebrate the runners who have joined Team Special Children’s Charities for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
This incredible team is using their miles to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Chicago. We are so grateful for their dedication and generosity!
This week’s featured runner is Victoria Corrado. Victoria is a special education teacher, and she told us how that helped her decide to join our team for her first marathon.
“Hi runner family! My name is Victoria Corrado and I live in Chicago. I am so excited to be running my first marathon for Special Children’s Charities. I have been teaching for 6 years and have a huge passion for special education. I have a bachelor’s in Elementary Education and two master’s in Special Education and ESL. I was also involved in special recreation sports and an inclusive daycare during my college career.
In addition to teaching, I also have a huge passion for running. I stated during my summer breaks in high school to get out of the house and little did I know it would turn into a love of mine. I ran cross/track for Carthage College and have also ran several half marathons, however, this is my first full marathon.
I am so excited to combine both my loves (special education and running) and in the city that I love! A huge thank you to my friends and family for supporting me through this process. See you all October 12th!”
Thank you so much to Victoria for being a part of our team! Support her effort by making a donation to her campaign today!
