Every Monday, we celebrate the runners who have joined Team Special Children’s Charities for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
This incredible team is using their miles to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Chicago. We are so grateful for their dedication and generosity!

This week’s featured runner is Bryan Lowe, who is returning to run with Team SCC again this year!

“I was never a serious runner, but when my wife and I had our first daughter, I realized I needed to get healthy to be around for her as she grows up. I have since ran 8 marathons, including Chicago with Team SCC in 2025 and am looking forward to running Chicago again with Team SCC and New York City this fall! Last year in Chicago, I started out strong but hit a wall early on, around mile 14. On my flight home I told myself if I ever got an opportunity to run this race again, I’m going to be sure to be prepared – and here we are – hopefully running a PR in October!”

Thank you so much to Bryan for being a part of our team! Support his effort by making a donation to his campaign today!

My dad and I could not think of a more perfect charity to raise money for. A charity bringing health and wellness and inclusivity to children and young adults like my brother, something we strive to not take for granted every day.

Giving Tuesday is today!

Special Children’s Charities provides free, year-round programs for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities across all 77 Chicago neighborhoods. Nearly 70% of participants live below the poverty line, so removing financial barriers is essential to ensuring access, inclusion, and joy.

Give to Special Children’s Charities this Giving Tuesday and help us meet our fundraising goal of $10,000!
