Every Monday we celebrate the runners who have joined Team Special Children’s Charities for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
This incredible team is using their miles to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Chicago. We are so grateful for their dedication and generosity!

This week we are featuring one of our returning runners. Brandon Holifield is joining Team SCC for the second year in a row! He told us why he chose us for his marathon again this year:

“I chose to run with Special Children’s Charities last year because youth sports had such a profound impact on who I am today. I was inspired by the charity’s mission to support children with special needs and their families. Knowing that my effort could help make a positive impact in their lives gave me extra motivation during training and on race day.

On top of that, I had so much fun being part of the charity team – the camaraderie, the support, and the energy really made the experience special. That sense of community and enjoyment stayed with me, and it’s a big part of why I’m returning this year.

Running with Special Children’s Charities is meaningful and rewarding, and I’m proud to be part of a group that helps provide opportunities and resources to children who need it most. I’m excited to run again this year, knowing every step contributes to their mission – and to enjoy the journey with an amazing team.”

Thank you so much to Brandon for being a part of our team once again! Support his effort by making a donation to his campaign today!

Through out my life, I have always been a part of activities and events that are sponsoring children/young adults with special needs. I’ve noticed that throughout the years that the help, guidance, supplies, have only gone up in price for these families of children with special needs, and having these opportunities to raise money for these children and adults is one of the kindest things you can do.

Giving Tuesday is today!

Special Children’s Charities provides free, year-round programs for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities across all 77 Chicago neighborhoods. Nearly 70% of participants live below the poverty line, so removing financial barriers is essential to ensuring access, inclusion, and joy.

Give to Special Children’s Charities this Giving Tuesday and help us meet our fundraising goal of $10,000!
